Three Creeks Parkway Restoration Project
Client: Contra Costa County Flood Control District and American Rivers
Location: Brentwood, California
Year Completed: 2021
The Three Creeks Parkway Restoration Project restored a formerly engineered flood control channel along Marsh Creek into a dynamic, multi-benefit riparian corridor that integrates flood management, habitat restoration, and public access. RDG widened the channel corridor to reconnect it with its floodplain and introduced in-stream and bank habitat features that increase geomorphic and ecological complexity. Native riparian vegetation, established throughout the corridor, strengthens long-term stability and habitat value. Layered with an expanded trail network and improved park connections, the design transformed a utilitarian drainage corridor into a resilient public landscape that supports watershed function, wildlife habitat, and community recreation.
